The Nativity Scene

December 19th, 2007 · No Comments

listening to the radio today, i heard a small bit of history regarding the nativity scene. apparently it was started by a monk named francis in the early 1200s. he wanted people to have a better understanding of the birth of jesus, so he arranged for a manger scene complete with shepherds, animals, and wise men. over the years is has become a staple throughout the world…a representation of the simplicity of jesus’ birth.

then this evening, i got an email from my grandmother with the following text:

There will be no nativity scene in the United State Congress, this year!

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a nativity scene in the United States capital this Christmas season.

This isn’t for any religious reason; they simply have not been able to find three wise men and a virgin in the nation’s capitol.

THERE WAS NO PROBLEM, HOWEVER, FINDING ENOUGH ASSES TO FILL THE STABLE.

only my grandma would send that. god love her :)
