To Mac or not to Mac

I’m working my way into the world of photo editing. Long ago I acquired Paint Shop Pro, a supposed equivalent to Photshop. I’ve used it some, but never to any extent that impressed me. I picked up a Mac last week from Aaron to play with. Being a graphic designer, he has adobe photoshop, adobe design, adobe anything-else you can think of.

I’m not a huge fan of the Mac OS; not because I don’t like it, but I don’t know how to use it. Nine years of PC has taught me a lot. I loaded a photo onto the Mac this week to play with photoshop…learning how to crate a black and white image with a selected portion remaining in color.

As you can see, the result is magnificent! My new found success has caused me a great dilemma; a once proud PC user finds himself amidst the turmoil of program envy. Yes, I could get photoshop for the PC, but at a HIGH price ($300 for the mid-prof. level) or I can continue to use the Mac…as long as Aaron lets me borrow it.

While the debate continues in my mind, I must allow myself to reflect. Although it a small step, I must appreciate what has been created, no matter what computer I use. The question isn’t so much “Mac or not to Mac” as it is “Appreciate the simple, revel in beauty”.

now i sit here in fron tof my 20″ imac with external monitor, my iphone, powerbook g4 (15in) and macbookk rpo (17in.)…not to mention a 160gb eternal hard drive, a 500gb backup for the powerbook, a terabyte backup for the imac, and a 250gb backup for use with superduper…guess i’ve made up my mind.
